So I haven’t updated often even though it was Easter bad I know. I think I will to set a reminder to post each week as I always forget lol. So I finally started working on my GameSalad game after much laziness. Hopefully if I carry on like this every day this game will be done by next week as I can start the second game. After I finish both games I will go to Unity to learn to code so I can make a game I will publish. GameSalad games will finished just not published until later.
So yeah thats all I have for you today see you next week!
So I haven’t update in forever sorry. I have just been so busy with school placement and job search. Sorry but this going to be a short post as I haven’t got much to say really.
So I’ve starred to look at Unity and started to learn c#. It’s not as easy as I thought. However I am still learning slowly. For now though I’ll probably concentrate on finishing GameSalad games as they straightforward.
That’s all I got to say now so bye!
See you next time!
So I forgot to post this earlier as I have not been well at all today so here goes. I have actually decided to make a 2D catch game for my first Unity game. I have all levels planned out and I’m just thinking of ideas to make the game more exciting. I’m also thinking of great marketing ideas but I’ll work on that more after I finish the game.
As for my game on GameSalad I might carry on with that on weekends but I won’t start the second game just yet. The thing is with GameSalad is if you don’t have a Mac you will suffer, so I’m not in a rush to finish any games on there any time soon. Unless of course my Unity game is successful enough to get me a Mac but that’s very unlikely.
So far this week I have gone to school placement and looked at a few Unity Tutorials. I think making games so far has been enjoyable, I mean there are times when I’m stuck but I never give up. At this point I am having fun and its great. Some market research is also fun as I can just sit and play games to see the different aspects to successful games.
I aim to finish my Unity game by June or July and finish my GameSalad game by April. This is because with GameSalad I can make more than one level in a day if I wanted to (but I’m too lazy and don’t). But with Unity it takes me hours to work on one level of a game and sometimes I can’t finish it even then. GameSalad game also has less levels than Unity game.
Anyway that’s all I got to say today so I’m off this see you next week.
Hello there fellow readers and welcome to my blog.
So let me introduce myself first, I am 20 year old student and I live in the UK. I am currently studying to be a teacher and looking to develop games as a hobby. I have started off by using GameSalad, it has been amazing so far and I already have two games planned to build on it. I have actually started my first game as well and I’m about halfway into development.
However as great as GameSalad is I can’t publish or test my games without either having a Mac or paying the $300 fee. So I have decided to look at Unity. It has not been easy learning c# but Unity has some great lessons for beginners that has helped me learn a bit of the basics. I have also been watching tutorials that have been helpful. Unity also allows me to publish and test on Android and other mobile platforms for free!
In order to publish to iTunes though I need to get a Mac, so I’m saving as of now for that. I am thinking of publishing to all platforms to make my games accessible everywhere. I will continue to use GameSalad now and then as it is a great simple software, but I probably won’t publish or test my games on there until I get a Mac.
At the moment I am not looking to make developing games a career, it is simply for fun. However if my games become a hit with gamers I would consider it. I know this is not an easy market to get into, but it is what I enjoy doing so even if it gets hard I will always try to find the solution to my problem.
So yeah, that is all I have to post today. Stay tuned if you want to see what it is like to make games around other commitments. You can also see what it’s like for a beginner in the game industry.I will try to post at least once a week and maybe more in the holidays.
For now though see you next time!
